It used to be that when someone said the word diet, I would cringe away in fear. Through the years I have tried countless diets, all of them with near the same results. The recipes are always perfectly balanced with your protein, veggies and complex carbs. There are enough different combinations to keep even the picky eaters happy. I have found a simple weight loss program. The 21 day fix by Beach Body. This is the only program that I have tried ( and I have tried lots) that makes it easier to stick to a diet. The whole program is great, but the part I found the biggest help was the 21 Day Fix Containers, they are epic.
Trying to diet and exercise is hard enough without having to weigh your food, count calories or plain old guess. It goes without saying if you eat too much you will not see that scales move. But most people never heard that if you eat too little the same goes.
You never have to worry about getting the right amount ever again. If it fits into the container you get to eat it. The best part is you fill them up with any food you like, as long as it is the right food group. Simple right, the best things usually are.
When I started using the containers it became clear that my biggest problem was not eating enough. Using the system was so easy, if it fit into the container I had to eat it. I kept using the program and the containers. Truly I never expected to see much success, I never had before.

Using the containers for your portion control makes it easy and while you look at the sizes at first and maybe wonder “well that’s not enough”, it actually really is. When you get the food on your plate you will see how much it really is and you will find yourself satisfied. So what you get is 1 of each color of the containers: blue, red, green, purple, yellow and two of the orange containers. Each container is used for a different purpose that breaks down like this:

Pretty easy, right? There is some math involved when you go to decide what you get to eat. You will need to calculate your caloric level, which is easily lined out for you in the guide that comes with the program.
Once you have done that, you will know what you can eat. An example of this is if you are allowed say 1800 calories a day, you can have 4 green containers, 3 purple, 3 yellow, 4 red, 1 blue and 1 orange per day.
After you have broken down what you get per day, you will want to find a spacing that works for you. Remember that smaller meals per day is healthier for you overall, especially when you are working out.

One thing I really like about the meal plan in 21 Day Fix is they actually taste good. You aren’t required to eat some bland, boring food all the time. The combination of tasty meals and the containers that make it extremely easy to measure everything out allows you to easily stick to this program and stay on track. No more guessing games.

Well, you can’t just eat right, you have to get moving and make your body get into action if you truly want to get lean and fit. The DVD’s will work for any level of training. You can be a professional at fitness or someone who has never worked out before and you will learn how with the 30 min workouts for a full 21 days straight (no days off!). And trust me, you work every major muscle group with these DVD’s.
Now, don’t be scared that it’s 21 days straight of working out. Some of the days are less intense where others are more intense, so you won’t necessarily be killing yourself 7 days a week for 3 weeks. The Yoga and Pilates Fix for example are challenging but are on the lower end of the intensity scale in my opinion.
You can’t claim that you don’t have time because it is only 30 minutes per day. This makes the workouts very doable over the 21 day period, and best yet, it starts a habit. Each of the workouts is targeted for a specific area and will get you going and the heart pumping. I recommend following the plan exactly as it’s laid out when you first start, but once you go through it, feel free to play around with the workouts and decide what combo you like the best. If you want more leg development for example, throw in an extra lower body fix per week.
When you are working out through the videos, you can modify from what is being shown in the hard hitting version, so there really is something for everyone in these workouts and it will work for you regardless of your current fitness level.
The Trainer & Overall Plan
Autumn Calabrese is a great trainer; you feel energized by her and I love that she reminds you, “If you’re sick of starting over, stop quitting.” I think that is a reminder that we all need sometimes, a little kick in the pants and some tough love.
The meal plan is good – you are allowed to have little cheats here and there, however, if you do there must be a substitution in your weekly eating. The idea of this plan is to eat as clean as you can for 21 days. It is not a huge long term commitment and it will make a difference.
